NEW YORK for NEW YEARS
Dec 28, 2009- Jan 3, 2010
People celebrate Christmas throughout the United States, but holidays in New York is really special. The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and Macy's Christmas windows are symbols of the Christmas season not only for New Yorkers but for all of America. An of course New Year's Spirit is really strong in New York.
Join students from all over the world in this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see New York all decked out for holidays!
Where better to begin a tour of New York, than at the top of the Top of the Rock. From the top we can see all of Manhattan and some of the other boroughs as well. On a ferry ride out to the Statue of Liberty we can photograph the amazing skyline before heading to Ellis Island to learn about the early settlers.
We will visit the United Nations to learn about the organization and its world influence and continue on to visit some of the neighborhoods that make up Manhattan. Our tour will take us to Greenwich Village, Chinatown, Soho and Little Italy where we will learn about the various ethnic groups that give New York its diversity. Following dinner at the Hard Rock Café, we will enjoy a real Broadway show.
Going behind the scenes at NBC Studios will give us an insight as to how one of America's largest network television studios operates. We will continue our day with a tour of the famous Rockefeller Center and visit the New York Metropolitan Art Museum.
Of course we have a big new year's dance party and countdown (not in Times Square - we'll see that another day -without all the crowds).
We will walk on Wall street and learn about the fascinating business of stock trading and stop by to see Ground Zero. We will explore Central Park, one of New York's favorite relaxation spot.
No visit to New York would be complete without a shopping expedition. We will explore the great stores that line Fifth Avenue, visit Bloomingdales, Tiffany's and Macy's, the apple store FAO Schwartz, etc. Some students can't wait for H & M. And you will be there for the after Christmas Sales!
Pick out some fun souvenirs or the latest in fashion at one of New York's trendy stores, or the bargains of Chinatown's Canal street. You will also have a chance to visit one of the area's best outlet malls for those Christmas sale item.
